Ceremony at the Presidential Palace (by invitation only)
On the 1st of May, the day marking Cyprus' accession to the EU in 2004, a special ceremony will take place at the Presidential Palace with the participation of students from schools across Cyprus.
The President of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr Nikos Christodoulides and the President of the European Commission, Mrs Ursula von der Leyen, will address the event.
Illumination of buildings with the logo commemorating the 20th anniversary of Cyprus’ accession to the EU
The Presidential Palace, government buildings as well as other landmark buildings in Lefkosia will be illuminated with the logo of the 20th anniversary of the accession of Cyprus to the EU.

Flagship event at the Nicosia Municipal Theatre (by invitation only)
On Europe Day on the 9th of May, a flagship event commemorating the 20th anniversary of the accession of Cyprus to the EU will take place at the Nicosia Municipal Theatre, in the presence of the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr Nikos Christodoulides.
The Musical Schools of Cyprus and the Woodwind Ensemble of the Cyprus Youth Symphony Orchestra will perform. Following the ceremony, a Photographic Exhibition by the Press and Information Office, will take place, showcasing key moments of Cyprus' European journey, at the Municipal Theatre’s foyer. A commemorative projection on the facade of the Nicosia Municipal Theatre will follow.

Inauguration of Outdoors Photographic Exhibition
Inauguration of an Outdoors Photographic Exhibition by the Press and Information Office along the Green Line, within the city walls of Lefkosia, in the presence of the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr Nikos Christodoulides, who will address the event. Starting at Lidinis Street and ending at the Centre for Information and Training for Employment and Entrepreneurship KEEAED. The exhibition is organised in collaboration with the Municipality of Nicosia and focuses on Cyprus' path to EU accession as well as its 20-year participation in the EU.
The Exhibition will be displayed until 26 May 2024.

Cyprus Contemporary Dance Festival
The 25th Cyprus Contemporary Dance Festival will take place between 31 May – 23 June 2024 and is organized by the Department of Contemporary Culture of the Deputy Ministry of Culture in collaboration with the Rialto Theater.
The Festival is the leading institutional contemporary dance event, which has been held since 1998, giving the public the opportunity to attend innovative dance performances. This year will be taking part in the Festival groups from Cyprus, Greece, Denmark, Italy and the Netherlands.
The Contemporary Dance Festival participates in the celebrations for the 20th anniversary of the accession of Cyprus to the European Union.

International Short Film Festival of Cyprus
The International Short Film Festival of Cyprus is the official competition festival for short films in Cyprus, showcasing and celebrating an outstanding narrative, animated, documentary and experimental original short film content of a maximum of 25' duration. It was founded by the Contemporary Culture Department of the Deputy Ministry of Culture and Rialto Theatre. Initially, it showcased exclusively a national competition section and gradually expanded into an international competition festival.
Alongside its main competition programme, it organises a range of site-specific events in collaboration with local artists, various thematic screenings and masterclasses, aiming towards the integration of several art forms. It also aims to always be ahead of the curve when it comes to integrating creativity and innovation by introducing new technologies and innovative initiatives every year.

WIP (Work in Progress) Arts & Technology Festival
WIP (Work in Progress) Arts & Technology Festival is an ever-evolving series of activities and exhibitions focused on arts & technology synergies. Organized by CYENS Centre of Excellence together with esteemed collaborators, the festival is breaking new ground in the east Mediterranean, aiming to become an annual reference point for scientists and creatives experimenting at the intersection of Arts, Science and Technology.
As stated by its name, WIP festival embraces the notion that both art and research are a Work in Progress. As such, it features a program of workshops, discussions, and presentations that focuses on the creative processes. Effectively, the works on display are considered as in process products open to an active engagement between the observer and the creator and encouraging a dialogue on the impact of technology on our society and contemporary culture.
